A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR LOCAL TRADES
Do you need
a website?
Start with the job you need it to do. A website is useful when a potential customer needs to check your services, work and contact details before calling.
When a simple site helps
A homeowner has your name from a neighbour but wants to see the kind of extensions you build. A landlord wants to check which electrical inspections you offer. A bathroom customer wants to understand whether you supply and fit or install only. A few clear pages can answer these questions without you repeating them every evening.
When to wait
If you have no capacity for more work, no clear service offer or no time to respond to enquiries, buying a website will not fix that. First decide which jobs you want and who will answer incoming messages. You can start by keeping existing business information accurate.
What to collect before building
- Your services, normal travel area and working hours.
- Photos of your own work with permission to publish them.
- Accurate qualifications and genuine customer feedback.
- One clear way to call or request a quote.
A website is not a promise of leads
It gives people somewhere to check your business. Demand, reputation, competition and promotion still matter. Measure useful enquiries as well as visits; a page view is not a paid job.
